Graham Jaeger: Second Reflection

Throughout week 2, there have been so many beautiful islands that we cruised around to see. But what impressed me the most, had to of been the island of Patmos. It’s probably weird to hear that considering we saw some of the most beautiful places in the world such as Santorini and Mykonos, but there was something different about Patmos. Being catholic, it was pretty amazing to see something so historical and profound to my faith in a foreign part of the world. Everything in St. John’s worship place had a unique beauty to it as it followed the ancient Roman Catholic look. I think I am most impressed about just being in the same place and walking the same roads as St. John who is such an incredible person to my faith. St. John has been to a lot of places, but I learned that he was unchained and free to go wherever he wished in Patmos. Knowing that I was in the same grotto/place on Patmos as he was when he wrote the Fourth Gospel and received the visions of the last book of the New Testament known as the Book of Revelation is what really made this the best place on the trip for me. The Holy Cave of the Apocalypse and the rest of the Patmos island was truly incredible, and I can’t think you and the entire staff enough for setting up such incredible places to go that changed our lives forever. Thanks for everything!
