As we journeyed into our second week, the sights we visited managed to become more and more picturesque. My two favorite places that we visited were Delphi and Santorini, both places had so much to offer geographically and historically. In Delphi, there was this certain beauty and liveliness to the town. Being able to walk the same path that the ancient Greeks did so many years ago and still see many of the same things they say is really intriguing. Aristotle did a great job at conducting the demonstration of how people attended the oracle. It was awesome being able to not only hear how it was done, but also see specifically where it happened. The whole ancient town in general was just constructed in such a way that it was very clear someone put a lot of time into building it. Also, walking all the way to the top to see the stadium was a bit of a hike but I am glad I did it.
Visiting Santorini was the city I was most looking forward to seeing. It has been on my bucket list for some time now and being able to finally see it in person was an amazing way to end the trip. There may have not been a site that we visited that had specific ancient Greek history related to the gods, I still think the way it came about is very fascinating. The whole town is build on one of the biggest active volcanoes in the Aegean Sea. Throughout the whole island you can see where the volcanic lava has flown and in the middle of all the dark rock you have a beautiful white city with blue accents. Although, it has not always been like this. The houses used to be the same color as the rock around them in order to allow them to blend in with the island to keep from attracting pirates. But we all know that the way Santorini is now is way prettier, so breathtaking that not even pictures can give this place the justice it deserves. I wish we could have had more time on the island maybe even a night because there was so many places to explore and not enough time.
