Gabrielle Rife - Week #2

The second week of the trip I learned a lot of things, chief among them that not all tour guides are created equal. I jest but in all seriousness, it would have been nice if we brought Aristotle along with us, I quite enjoyed his quirky was of explaining the sites to use, he did it in a way that was both entertaining and informative and you both played off of each other fairly well when the other was done.
One thing that was rather interesting was going to see the "Grotto of the Apocalypse".I didn't know what that was nor that it was such an important setting in Christian biblical cannon until we got there.
The second thing I found interesting was when we visited Santorini and discovered just how devastating that volcano had been several thousands of years ago, that a large chunk of the island had collapsed in upon itself and the eruption had devastated civilizations for miles.
I will say that compared to what I had envisioned about Greece itself a lot of what I thought I was going to see was hyped up greatly, in part because most of everything is not in ruins, but also because we didn't get to get as up close and personal with the sites as I would have liked to. Which is understandable but still disappointing, to say the least
